Katy Phillips Tucker, 89, of Sheffield, died April 13, 2013. Her visitation will be Monday night from 6-9 p.m. at Colbert Memorial Chapel in Tuscumbia. Her funeral service will be on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the funeral home. Burial will be in Corum Cemetery, in Lexington. Brother Jack Coons is officiating.
Mrs. Tucker was preceded in death by her parents, George Jeff Phillips, and Maude Lee Phillips, husband, Thomas Douglas Tucker; son, Donald Ray Tucker, granddaughter, Misty Dawn Preston, great-grandson, Cody Tyler Austin, great-granddaughter, Whitney Tucker, brothers, William, Leo, and Royce Phillips; sister, Marie Gregory.
She is survived by her sons, J.T. Tucker, of Oak Ridge, Tenn., Roy (Sloria) Tucker, of Sheffield, Ala., Troy (Janet) Tucker, of Barton, Ala., and Ronald (Teresa) Tucker, of Killen, Ala.; daughters, Helen Coker, of Sheffield, Ala., Lee (Tillman) Tatum, of Sheffield, Ala., Judy Jeffreys, of Muscle Shoals, Ala., and Shelia Preston and special friend, Richard Moreland, of Muscle Shoals, Ala.; 26 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Mother was a loving and giving person. She was most happiest when she was doing for her family. Her death will leave a big void in all of our lives.
The family would like to extend special thanks to North Alabama Hospice, and to her grandson, Roy Lynn Tucker, for the caregiving that he gave her the last two years. He was very special to her. She was of the Baptist faith.
Pallbearers include grandsons, Roy Lynn Tucker, Josh Thrasher, Charles Adams, Travis Tucker, Willis Tucker, and David Howell.
Mrs. Tucker was a grandparents aide at Head Start in Sheffield. She loved music, dancing, flowers and people.
