Katina Ingram Selikoff of Curry, Alabama passed away at home on October 4, 2026 surrounded by her loved ones. She was born to Lois Geneva Ingram and husband on March 28, 1946 in Anniston, Alabama.
She excelled as a pathology medical technician and researcher at Baptist Hospital in Montgomery, Alabama where she met and married the love of her life, Dr. Peter Selikoff. They were inseparable for over 58 years. After they moved to Jasper, Alabama in 1978, she managed their horse farm for over 30 years. Her life’s passion turned to animal rescue after recognizing the dire need for rural stray animal care in the area. She was instrumental in starting the original Walker County, Alabama Humane Society in the mid 1980’s, as she and Peter were part of the founding board members of the organization. No animal in need was ever turned away from Katina’s farm, as an innumerable amount of strays magically appeared regularly on her doorstep throughout the years.
Katina is survived, dearly loved and missed by her family she was so devoted to including her husband Dr. Peter Selikoff of Curry, Alabama, daughters Kristen Selikoff of North Carolina, and Libby Selikoff of Colorado. Sisters Teresa Johnson of Georgia and Sharlene McGraw of North Carolina also mourn Katina’s passing, with whom they shared so much joy and laughter. There was never a dull moment when the trio of free spirited sisters were together, and we cherish those times immensely. Her surviving nieces and nephews had an especially close bond with their Aunt Tina, as she always made each one feel special and loved.
Katina was preceded in death by her dear mother Lois Ingram, grandparents Howard and Gladys Jones of Montgomery, Alabama and her best friend Shelia Barton of Jasper, Alabama who was her steadfast support on the Walker County farm for decades. There will be a private memorial at a later date at the family farm in Calhoun County, Alabama, where her legacy of love for family, animals in need, and environmental conservation will live on.
