Kathy Akers Bates, age 62 of Empire died Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at Baptist Princeton Medical Center. Funeral services will be 12:00 PM Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Bell Sumiton Chapel with burial in Morgan Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at the funeral home.
Preceding her in death were her father, John Akers; her mother, Emma Motte; stepfather, George Motte; sister, Sandra D. Akers.
Survivors include her daughter, Brandy Holt and her husband Heath of Empire; son, Jeremy Bates of Argo; her grandchildren Cody Parr, Blair Bates, Blakely Bates, Jackson Holt, Lexi Holt, Cole Bates, and Kensley Bates all of Empire; sister, Pat Motte of Cordova; sister, Charlotte Simmons of Sumiton; brothers Wayne Akers and his wife, Ginnie of Sumiton, Stanley Akers of Cordova, and Mike Akers of Empire; and a host of nieces and nephews.
