KathleenKathleen M. Romine Our Mother’s Heart was a Flower Garden of Love. Kathleen McCorkle Romine passed away July 13, 2013. Her visitation will be held Tuesday, July 16, from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Spry Williams Funeral Home, Florence. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Richardson Cemetery, Waterloo, Alabama, with Sid Fulford officiating. Mrs. Romine was born and raised in Waterloo. She graduated from Waterloo High School, attended Concord College in Athens, West Virginia, and Florence State College. She taught in the county schools for several years and was employed at McCorkle’s Furniture for 25 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard J. Romine; her parents, J. H. and Lennie Bevis McCorkle; brothers, Ray McCorkle, W. R. (Bill) McCorkle, and A. V. (George) McCorkle. She leaves four surviving children; James H. Romine, Chicago, IL, Linda Allen (Kelly), Diane Hartley (James D.), and Cathy Romine, all of Florence; nieces, Georgia Lee Osborne, Martha Streit Olin, and Andrea Hunter Brock; nephews, Paul Romine, Dean Romine and Greg Hunter. Mrs. Romine was a long time member of Sherrod Avenue Church of Christ. Pallbearers will be Kelly W. Allen, Jim Romine, Jim Hartley, Doug Hartley, Jamie Hartley, and Jimmy Carringer. Honorary pallbearers will be Karl Potts, Bill Mangrum and Robert Potts. A special thank you to our wonderful caring sitters; Brenda, Joyce, Carolyn, Bobby, Amy, Stephanie, Betty and Jerrilyn; to Hospice of the Shoals RN’s Shirley, Kathy, Emily and Bethany, and to personal caregivers, Lisa and Debbie. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Shoals, 115 Fairground Road, Florence, AL 35630.
