Kathleen G. Black, age 93 of Winchester, passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at Highpoint Health Medical Center. A native of Franklin County, she was born on May 31, 1931, in Sherwood to Sam D. and Mary Alice (Robinson) Garner. A talented seamstress, she had been employed at Lanier until the time of her retirement. Along with sewing, she enjoyed cross-point and traveling, especially to state and national parks. However, at the end of the day, Kathleen was a homebody, cherishing the time spent at home with her beloved family and friends. Her beautiful smile along with her loving nature enabled her to never meet a stranger. Kathleen was a devoted member of St. Agnes Episcopal Church in Cowan, where she loved her church family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Wilbur Garner, J.C. Barnes, Amy King, Lynda Barnes, Claudia Gilbert, and Phoebe Simmons; and daughter-in-law, Brenda Black. She is survived by her loving husband, Harold Gene Black Sr; children, Harold Gene Black Jr, and Alice Marie Black; grandchildren, Harold Gene (Connie) Black III, Robert Elvin Black, and Brian David Black; great-grandchildren, Melia Black, and Robert Elvin (Erica) Black; great-great-grandchildren, Delane Lea Black, and Issac Elvin Black; and extended family members. Visitation will be from 11am-1pm on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 1:00pm in the Chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with Jarod Pearson officiating. Interment will be at Mt. View Cemetery in Sherwood.
