Katheryn Marie Durham Lee, of Hazel Green, passed away Saturday, July 4, 2026, at the age of 90, surrounded by her family.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband, A.G. Lee Jr.; her parents, Brady William Durham and Gracy Mae (Greenway) Durham; brothers, Horace and Bobby Durham; sister Doris Durham and brother-in-law, Harold Boggs.
Marie is survived by her two children, Michael Lee (Gwen) and Judy (Lee) Kernya (John); a much-loved sister, Edith Boggs; five grandchildren, Ryan Lee (Angelica), Kayla (Lee) King (Weston), Matthew Kernya, Jessica (Kernya) Haight (David), and Annie Kernya; and many great-grandchildren.
Marie lived most of her life in Hazel Green, Alabama, and was a woman of deep faith whose love for God and her family was the foundation of her life. She found her greatest joy in spending time outdoors on the mini-farm with horses, appreciating the beauty of God’s creation, and creating cherished memories with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Whether sharing stories, laughter, or simply enjoying each other’s company, her family was her greatest blessing. She was a faithful, long-time member of both Carters Grove Baptist Church and Calvary Baptist Church.
The family expresses their deep appreciation to Hospice of North Alabama for their dedicated care and assistance, especially Chaplain DJ Allen, Rebecca, Abby, and Ernest. Heartfelt thanks are also extended to Andrea of Blue Feather Home & Respite Care for her hard work planning and scheduling, and to her wonderful caregivers, especially Theresa, Felicia, Diana, Jada, Kayla, Velda, and the many others who provided such compassionate care.
A graveside service is being held at Gatlin Cemetery State Line Road East, Ardmore, Alabama 35739, Wednesday July 8 at 10:00 a.m. with Chaplain DJ Allen officiating.
Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home is assisting the family with services.
