Katheryn “Elaine” Yost age 70, of York, NE, passed away Sunday, October 20, 2013 at her home in York. She was born August 3, 1943 at Central City, NE to James and Katheryn (Patterson) Cook. She was united in marriage to David Yost on December 23, 1965 at Rochester, MN. Elaine was a registered nurse and worked in several places during her 40 year career. When she retired, she was working at the Veteran’s Home is Grand Island, NE. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in York, P.E.O. Chapter A, volunteered in the Adult Basic Education Program in York, and had formerly helped with Meals on Wheels.
Survivors include her son Andrew (Jennifer Williams) Yost of Decatur, AL; daughter Anne Yost of Falls City, NE; grandchildren, Amanda Joy Yost and Aimee Jaslynn Yost of Decatur; granddog MaGoo of Falls City; and former husband David Yost of Brule, NE. Also surviving is a host of friends. She was survived in death by her parents and two granddaughters Emma & Kathryn.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Thursday, October 24, 2013 at the First Presbyterian Church in York with the Reverend Mike Eickhoff officiating. Interment will be at 2:00 pm that afternoon at the Harvard Cemetery, Harvard, NE. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
Visitation will be from 1-9 pm Wednesday at Metz Mortuary with the family greeting friends that evening from 7-8:30 pm.
