Katherine “Katie” Walker – Obituary

Katherine “Katie” Walker age 89, passed away Monday, February 23, 2015 at St. Thomas Midtown in Nashville, Tennessee.

Katherine was born December 13, 1925 in Alabama to the late Ernest Cleveland Walker and the late Alma Smith Walker. Katie graduated from Summertown High School and continued her education at Columbia Business College. After college, she worked as an executive assistant for a number of prestigious firms in Nashville including Peat Marwick, Armistead Insurance Company and Hofstetter & Hofstetter. She retired at the age of 87 from the Tennessee Hospital Association and American Hospital Association. Katie was a member of the Brentwood Church of Christ. She was a truly caring person full of love. She had a lot of friends and lived life to the fullest. She was an independent woman who forged her own path through the world with a great sense of humor and a kind heart. She enjoyed golf and spending time with her family. She was an especially loving aunt and will be dearly missed.

Katie is survived by: her sister: Polly Jean Walker Thompson (Lee) of Lawrenceburg, TN; nieces: Jennifer Thompson (Larry Michelson) of Brentwood, TN and Beth MacAloon of Virginia; nephews: David Thompson (Kim) of Pipertown, TN, Jamin Jacobs of Oklahoma, and Jon Jacobs of Oklahoma; grand nieces: Emily Deaton (Blake) and Ansley Thompson; and grand nephew; Michael Jacobs of Oklahoma.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Elizabeth Walker Jacobs.
