Karen Itzel Gutierrez, age 22, passed away Sunday, Dec. 25, 2016. Visitation will be today from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Spry-Williams Funeral Home of Florence. The Rite of Christian Burial will be Friday, Dec. 30, at 1 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church of Florence with Father Roy Runkle officiating. Burial will be at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
She was a 2012 graduate of Florence High School and was a senior at the University of North Alabama earning a degree in psychology.
Preceding her in death were her paternal grandparents, Antonia Gutierrez and Maria Aguirre.
Survivors are her parents, Jose Gutierrez and Prisma Soriano; maternal grandparents, Blas Soriano and Antonia Ventura; brother, Bryan Gutierrez; sister, Annette Gutierrez; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
