FLORENCEJunior League of the Shoals (JLS) invites you to join us for a ribbon cutting and press conference on Saturday, May 10, at 10 am at Deibert Park in Florence.
Junior League of the Shoals recently purchased and installed a handicap-accessible wheelchair swing and ramp for Deibert Park, the first of its kind in the Shoals area.
The ribbon cutting ceremony is open to the public. Florence Mayor Steve Holt and Junior League members are hosting the event.

“We are thrilled to be able to meet this important need in the Shoals area by adding this wheelchair swing to Deibert Park, making play accessible to all,” said Dr. Lorie Johnson, Junior League President-Elect. “We are so grateful to all those who have supported our fundraisers. You made this possible.”

Junior League plans to install handicap-accessible play equipment in Tuscumbia’s Spring Park this fall.

The swing installed at Deibert Park was purchased from Sportsplay, Inc., which offers various styles of ADA-compliant playground equipment. The swing accommodates the user’s wheelchair, eliminating the need for transfers. The sturdy steel platform can accommodate up to 700 pounds, including motorized chairs.

Junior League of the Shoals is an organization of women dedicated to making a difference in the Shoals community. We support and sponsor projects that impact women and children, particularly those with special needs.
