FLORENCE – Junior League of the Shoals will place the second of several Little Libraries on the campus of Florence’s Greater St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church at 129 N. Cherokee St. as part of its 2020-21 Community Project on Friday, February 5th at 6 p.m.  There will be other Little Libraries placed in various Shoals locations throughout the League year.

Little Libraries are “take a book, return a book” free book exchanges. They come in many shapes and sizes, but the most common version is a small wooden box of books. Anyone may take a book or bring a book to share. Little Free Library book exchanges have a unique, personal touch.

“Literacy is a major focus of JLS. Along with our Read Across the Shoals efforts, this year our community project will be Little Libraries. Our members actually built these little libraries, these are truly a labor of love. This community project is one that will reach all of the counties we serve, including Lauderdale.” said Tiff Butler, President of Junior League of the Shoals.

Each year Junior League gives back to the community via community projects including two wheelchair swings in Shoals area public parks, Special Olympics Banquet and more. The League represents women 21+ in Lauderdale, Colbert and Franklin Counties.
