Junior Clyde “JC” Gibson, 88, Florence, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014. Visitation will be Sunday, Feb. 16, 1 to 2 p.m., at Greenview Funeral Home followed by the graveside service at 3:30 p.m. at the Lawrence County Memorial Gardens, Lawrenceburg, Tenn. Brother Jerry Phillips is officiating.
He was born Jan. 4, 1926, to K. D. and Pearl Olive Gibson, Iron City, Tenn.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby Hollis Gambrell Gibson; a son, Edward Gambrell and wife, Dru; grandchildren, Philip Gambrell and wife, Chrisy, all of Florence, Susan Sanderson and husband, PR, Prattville, and Robert Konrad and wife, Lisa, Centreville, Md.; great-grandchildren, Hunter Lawler, PJ Gambrell, Cameron Sanderson, Conner Sanderson, Avy Gambrell, Brock Sharer, Erica Konrad, and Jon Konrad; his sister, Betty Tucker; and several nieces.
Mr. Gibson served his country honorably in the Navy in World War II. He was a Baptist, a deacon, and most recently a member of Underwood Baptist Church, Florence. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 11 and a member of the Masonic Ashlar Lodge No. 91, in Michigan. He was the owner of Gibson Broach and Tool, Lebanon, Tenn. After retirement, he enjoyed traveling in his motor home, often spending winters in Florida.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Jo Gibson; and son, Gale Walker; a sister, Walsie Gambrell; and brothers, Eddie Woods, Floyd Gibson, and Ralph Gibson.
Pallbearers are Stan Cross, John Pillow, Jon Kelly, PJ Gambrell, Philip Gambrell, Josh Elmore, and Mark Henderson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Underwood Baptist Church, Florence, or a favorite charity .
The family would like to express special thanks to Dee and Jean G. Mussleman, along with the caregivers of Eldercare, and to Dr. Timothy Ashley and staff.
