Julian "Steve" Jacobs Julian “Steve” Jacobs, born on January 23, 1955, entered into the presence of our Lord on December 22, 2025.

Steve was a faithful servant of God and poured love into all that had the privilege of knowing him. He lived out a beautiful example of God’s love, patience, compassion, and grace before us. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, uncle, and friend. Those who knew Steve will forever remember his laughter, dad jokes, love for all things outdoors, passion for His God, and heart for his family.

Steve’s calling into music ministry was a vital part of his life as well, and leading others to the throne of God in worship was an honor for him. He spent 30 years teaching, but he wasn’t just a teacher by profession. His love for science and sharing that knowledge with everyone around came out of him naturally.

Whether you knew him as Mr. Jacobs, “Uncle Steve” like half the church children, Papa to the grandchildren, Daddy, friend, or any of his numerous other roles, he undoubtedly left an impact on your life and will be dearly missed. But in true Steve style, he wouldn’t want the spotlight even in his passing and would want all the glory for his life to go to his Savior, Jesus Christ. We praise God for the gift of knowing him..

Steve is survived by his wife, Kathy, his children, Jenna Jones (Shawn) and Justin Jacobs (Andi), his grandchildren, Avery and Parker Jones and Harper and Carter Jacobs, his step mother, Mary Ann Jacobs, siblings, Karl Jacobs (Martha), Susan Jacobs, Karen Carter (Jeff), as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Kathleen Jacobs.

Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Saturday, December 27, from 11-2 at Sardis Springs Baptist Church with a celebration of life service at 2:00 pm. A graveside service will follow at Roselawn Cemetery (Athens, AL) immediately following.
