Julian Kenneth Jacobs, 94, completed his earthly life and entered his heavenly life on May 28th, 2022, at his home in Toney, Alabama.

Born in Ariton, Al, on May 23rd, 1928, He graduated from Ariton High School and received his BS degree from Troy State. After serving six years as band director and teacher at Abbeville and Pike County high schools, he followed the Lord’s leading into church music and education. He attended New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary where he received master’s degrees in Church Music and Religious Education.
During his years as a minister of music and education, he served at Trinity Baptist Church in New Orleans, Moss Point Baptist Church, West Laurel Baptist Church in Mississippi before coming to First Baptist Church in Athens where he served twenty years. He retired after serving at Lakewood Baptist Church in Huntsville. After retiring he led the music at East Highland Baptist Church and Salem Springs Baptist Church in Limestone County.

He enjoyed his retirement years raising beef cattle, gardening, playing golf, riding his horses, and spoiling his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Mr. Jacobs is preceded in death by his wife and the mother of his children, Kathleen Ezell Jacobs; his parents, Ernest and Jewel Jacobs; brother Harold Jacobs; nephews Ernie Jacobs and Greg Jacobs.

Mr. Jacobs is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Jacobs; two sons, Steve (Kathy) Jacobs and Karl (Martha) Jacobs; two daughters Susan Jacobs and Karen (Jeff) Carter. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Jenna (Shawn) Jones, Justin (Andi) Jacobs, Alison Bivens, Laurel (Aaron) James, Emilee Grace (Seth) Siniard, and Karlee (Damian) Pugh. His eleven great-grandchildren are Avery and Parker Jones, Harper and Carter Jacobs, Logan and Bryce Bivens, Judson Stewart, Ella and Andrew James, Leighton and Lofton Siniard. He is also survived by two brothers, Earl (Margaret) Jacobs and Franklin (Maxine) Jacobs and two nieces and two nephews.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 31st, 2022, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Sardis Springs Baptist Church with memorial service to follow. Burial will be at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Rocky Head, AL at 2PM on Wednesday, June 1st, 2022. Tim Keenum and Justin Jacobs will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Hospice of Limestone County or your favorite charity.
