Julian Edward ‘Ed’ Walker – Obituary

Dr. Julian Edward ‘Ed’ Walker, 73, of Huntsville, passed away on July 4.  He was born and raised in York, Alabama, and graduated with a B.S. degree in chemistry and biology from the University of Alabama in 1966.  He graduated at the top of his class from dental school at UAB and served two years in the Air Force as a dentist. He then entered a two-year orthodontic residency at Emory University, after which time he moved with his family to Huntsville and began a forty-year orthodontic practice.

Dr. Walker served as President of the Alabama Association of Orthodontics and of the Huntsville-Madison County Dental Society. He was a leader in his community and church and a beloved father, husband, and friend. He was a dedicated Willie Nelson fan who enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with family, and Alabama football. He was preceded in death by his parents, Inez Evans Walker and Julian Edward Walker; and brother, Richard Evans Walker; and daughter, Julia Mabry Walker.

Dr. Walker is survived by his wife, Jean Robinson Walker; daughter, Robin Walker Palmer and her husband, David; daughter, Leslie Walker Bickford and her husband, Heath; and grandchildren, Mabry McCain Palmer, Leslie Hamilton Palmer, John Evans Bickford, and Lillian Campbell Bickford.

After a private family burial, a memorial service will be held on Saturday at 4:00 PM in the First Presbyterian Church sanctuary, with the Rev. Dr. James W. Roberts and the Rev. William David Palmer officiating.  Laughlin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
