Julia Mary Thornton Milstead, 95, of Killen, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at Lauderdale Christian Nursing Home. She was a dedicated homemaker and a member of Mars Hill Church of Christ. Julia was a basketball player in high school. Her hobbies were sewing, teaching VBS and bible class. She wrote poems and songs. She was a fantastic cake decorator.

Visitation will be at Greenview Funeral Home on Sunday, August 2, 2026, from 1:00 – 2 p.m. with the funeral following at 2 p.m. in the chapel. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Park with Rickey Collum and Chris Moran officiating the service.

Julia was preceded in death by her parents, Christopher and Virgie Thornton, Tiplersville, MS; husband, Robert William Milstead, Florence, AL; son, William Larry Milstead, Florence, AL; son-in-law, Samuel Williamson, Westfield, IN; grandson, Samuel Mark Williamson, Westfield, IN; and all of her brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her daughters, Mary Lisa Milstead Williamson, Westfield, IN and Leta Mariea Milstead, Florence, AL; granddaughter, Margaret Shannon Williamson-D’Antoni (John), New Orleans, LA; granddaughter-in-law, Tracy L. Williamson, Westfield, IN; great-grandchildren, Ja’neyaih Williamson, Clayton Williamson, Westfield, IN.

Pallbearers are Jerrod Adams, Phillip Adams, Kevin Dillon, Walter Goggins, Hubert Powell and Wayne Scott.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Lawrence Alexander, Bill Bagents, Wayne Birdyshaw, Bob Broadfoot, Randy Medley and Tim Morrow.
