Julia ‘Judy’ Anthony Miller, 90, of Huntsville, passed away Friday. Judy was born and raised in Gallatin, Tennessee and graduated from Gallatin High School in 1946. She attended Western Kentucky State College in Bowling Green, Kentucky, until she returned to Gallatin due to her father’s illness. Judy continued to care for her mother after her father’s death while working at a local bank as a bookkeeper.
In 1952, Judy married Lieutenant Henry B. Miller. She was an Army wife until 1980 and the mother of two daughters and a son. When Colonel Miller retired from active service, they made their final home in Huntsville, Alabama, the location of their last duty station. During those post-retirement years, Judy was engaged in volunteer work for the Red Cross at Fox Army Hospital. She enjoyed an active social life participating in senior activities and bridge groups. Her travels as a military wife took her to Europe, Korea, and Saudi Arabia. Post-retirement trips found the Millers in Europe several times and Asia and Australia/New Zealand.
Survivors include her wonderful husband, Henry; daughters, Mary Bales and husband, Joel, and Alice Miller; four grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and many friends. Judy was preceded in death by her son, Michael; and her sister, Mary Elizabeth Belote.
Visitation will be from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 14, 2019, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 2:30 in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Tom Lovell officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Doctors Without Borders.
