Julia Ann Sprader, 81, of Huntsville passed away peacefully with her three sons by her side on Monday.
Julia was the youngest daughter of 5 girls and 5 boys of Leo and Irene Dean of Hamilton, Ohio. She worked closely with her brothers, Don and Vic, creating sleepless nights for her parents. Julia loved her Ohio family and returned often.
Julia met her beloved husband Lou and married in 1961. They moved to Huntsville in 1963 and resided on Reuben Drive for 53 years. With the arrival of her sons, she converted to the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Lou and Julia teamed up volunteering countless hours to St. Mary’s school, church, and charities. She retired from Huntsville City Schools in 1997. Later in life they turned to another source of volunteering: grandchildren.
Her beloved friend Hilda Gabrys kept her in line through it all. She had a loyal heart and a feisty spirit that was known to all. Sports officials especially heard from Julia with any call against her boys. Julia loved and worked on 3 things everyday: family, family, and family.
Julia is survived by her brother Vic and his wife Mary of Hamilton, Ohio; her sons Paul (Candace) of Nashville, Louis (Cynthia) of Maysville, and Michael (Nikki) of Mooresville; five grandchildren, Matthew, Grace, Connor, Samuel, and Chandler. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Lou; her parents Leo and Irene; brothers Merle, Don, Robert, and Leroy; sisters Gertie, Kate, Rita, and Marge.
The family will receive friends Friday, August 2nd starting at 11:30 am at St. Mary of the Visitation Catholic Church, followed by the funeral mass at 1:00 pm. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to Holy Family School.
