Julia Ann “Judy” Gartman Young, 69 of Northport, Alabama was born October 5, 1950 and died Wednesday, December 11, 2019, at Hospice Care of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
Judy grew up in Fayette, Alabama and graduated from Fayette County High School. After high school, Judy moved to Tuscaloosa to attend the University of Alabama where she mastered in social work. She furthered her education at Harvard. Judy met her husband, Hank in Fayette and they married on June 9, 1973 in Fayette. Judy worked for the Department of Human Resources where she became the director of Marion County Department of Human Resources and then Tuscaloosa Department of Human Resources. Judy retired after working for 39 and a half years at the Department of Human Resources. Judy’s greatest joy was her daughter, Annah, and her two grandsons, Henry and Malone. Judy was known for her big heart, devotion to her family, her joyful, generous spirit, and her great wit.
The body will lie-in-state 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., one hour prior to the service, Saturday, December 14, 2019 at Norwood-Wyatt Chapel Funeral Home in Fayette, Alabama.

Officiating: Rev. Audie Hodges.
Burial: Fayette Memorial Gardens, Fayette, Alabama.
