Judith “Judy” Waldrop Woodcock, a devoted Christian, loving family member, and passionate educator, passed away in Madison, Alabama, on May 22, 2025. She was 81 years old.

Born on November 21, 1943, in Cullman, Alabama, to Tom G. Waldrop and Mary P. Dean Waldrop, Judy lived a life deeply rooted in faith, service, and education. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at the age of 11, and remained a steadfast follower of Christ throughout her life.

Judy graduated from Morgan County High School in 1961, then earned her degree in Secondary Education from both Florida State University and the University of North Alabama in 1965. She began her teaching career at Priceville High School before continuing her education at Michigan State University, where she earned a degree in Library Science.

Her professional journey led her to Delta State University, where she served on the library staff until retirement. After retiring, she returned to Hartselle, Alabama, where she became actively involved in her church-participating in Bible studies, various church programs, and faithfully serving as the church recorder.

A lifelong and enthusiastic sports fan, Judy could always be found following her favorite teams: the Hartselle Tigers, UNA Lions, Auburn Tigers, Delta State Statesmen, and Florida State Seminoles. Whether watching games or tracking scores on her apps, she never missed a play.

Judy is survived by her brother, George “Butch” Waldrop, and his wife Patricia; her nephew, Wade Waldrop, his wife Kimberly, and their children Carsyn, Camryn, Cooper, and Callyn; her niece Laura Waldrop; and many beloved friends.

She is also lovingly remembered by the Woodcock family: Stan Woodcock, and his wife Betty, and their son, Paul Stanley; Brad Woodcock, and his wife Donna, and their children, Carly and Jesse; Lori Tigue, and her husband Terry, and their son, Tyler; and Holly Dunn, and her husband Bart, and their sons, Ty and Drew.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Dearl Woodcock and her parents.

She will be remembered for her unwavering faith, generous heart, passion for learning, and her spirited dedication to family, friends, and the teams she loved.
