Judith Helen Meadows, 73, of Decatur died Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2017. Funeral services will be today, Feb. 16, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with Pastor Brian McLaughlin officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Meadows was a sweet, soft-spoken lady with a tremendous capacity of love, especially for her family, children and the elderly. Being a stay at home mom, she kept children in her home and later went to work at local nursing homes before returning to school when her children were older to earn her RN degree. She was a registered nurse at Decatur General Hospital for 28 years before her retirement in 2005. Later on, her greatest joys were spending time with grandchildren and travel.

Mrs. Meadows had a personal relationship with Jesus her Savior, having been taught of Him by her grandmother, Beulah Glasgow Jackson. She enjoyed serving in the four-year old Sunday school class and teaching and driving the church bus for VBS at Fifth Avenue Baptist Church in Decatur.

She was preceded in death by her first husband of 19 years, Robert Gene Irvin, and her second husband of 19 years, Eldon Gene Meadows; her mother, Rachel Jackson Kirby; her father, Robert Emanuel Kirby; a very special grandmother, Beulah Glasgow Jackson; her sister, Wanda Kirby Byrd; and her brother, Robert Lincoln Kirby.

Survivors include one daughter, Rhonda Lynne Irvin (Rodney) Johnson; son, Douglas Eugene (Melissa) Irvin; grandchildren, Allison Alaina Johnson, Amanda Leigh Johnson, Nathan Andrew Johnson, Robert Douglas Irvin, Kyle Joseph Irvin, Kaitlin Elizabeth Irvin and great-grandchildren, Andrew Douglas Irvin and Jackson Ray Irvin.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
