Notice for Judith Gwen Davis

Judith Gwen Ward Davis, 73, passed away on Friday, November 21, 2025, at her home in the Ballardsville community after an extended illness. She was born December 29, 1951, in Memphis, TN. She was raised in Mantachie, MS., by her aunt and uncle, Moda and Johnnie Hardin. She graduated from Mantachie High School in 1970. She worked as a secretary most of her life until she retired in 2002.  She was a Baptist in belief and her favorite Bible verses was Ecclesiastes 3:1-8. She enjoyed crocheting and she especially loved her cats, Lina and Simba.

 

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 23, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Mantachie with Ricky Lesley officiating. Burial will be in the Center Star Cemetery.

 

Survivors include her husband of 21 years, Danny Davis of Ballardsville; two children, April Wallace Martin (Craig) and David Elton Wallace (Markita Anderson), both of the Carolina Community; one brother, Jerry Ward (Betty) of Memphis, TN; six grandchildren, Rina-Michelle D. Cole (Tim) of Belmont, Kelsey B. Leathers (Chauncey) of Fulton, Skyler Anderson of the Carolina Community, Ashley Wallace and Andrew Wallace, both of Grenada, and Marissa Ruiz (Jose) of Port Charles, FL; six great -grandchildren, Drew Turner, Noah Anderson, Rylei Leathers, Khloe Leathers, Atlas Wallace, ands Iris Ruiz.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her aunt and uncle, Moda and Johnnie Hardin; one brother, Joe Ward; two sisters, Jeannie Philips and Roselynn Jennings.

 

Visitation will be Sunday from noon until service time at McNeece-Morris Funeral Home in Mantachie.
