Juanita Tucker Ledford, 89, departed this world for her eternal home on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Juanita was born on August 13, 1934 in Middleton, TN to the late Homer Howard Tucker and Mary Eunice Foster Tucker. In 1950 she married the love of her life, Pete Ledford. Pete and Juanita spent 72 years together raising their family all over the state of Mississippi, but eventually settled in Northeast Mississippi. Juanita never spent a day apart from Pete except for one month and 10 days, until reunited in eternity. Juanita was a strong willed, Godly woman of great faith, a true Proverbs 31 woman. She was a member of Tupelo Seventh Day Adventist Church. Juanita loved reading as much as she could. She enjoyed working in her flower gardens. She loved to crochet and spend as much time with her family and grandchildren as possible.
A service celebrating Juanita’s life will be held on Monday, December 4, 2023, at 6 PM at the Sadie M. Holland Memorial Chapel. The family will receive friends from 4 PM until service time Monday at Holland Funeral Directors in Tupelo. For those unable to attend, the service will be livestreamed beginning at 6 PM at hollandfuneraldirectors.com/live-streaming and will be archived thereafter. Juanita is survived by her son, Thermond David Ledford (Judy), and daughters, Linda Joyce Hutchinson, Pamela Renee Jones, and Felicia Charlene Wilemon (Bryan); grandchildren, Charles Edward Childress, Patti Colleen Henderson, Tonya Pylar Aldridge, Adam Paul Childress, Angela Marie Hutchinson, Amanda Arlene Harris, Joshua Craig Jones (Ken), Ashlee Nicole Long (Justin), Christopher Reese Pecou, Bethany Leigh Shaffer, Edward Allen Hutchinson III, and Amber Nicole Bates; 40 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; her sisters Shirley Butler, and Jeantte Bridgeman.; and several nieces and nephews.
Juanita was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Pete Ledford who died October 20, 2023; her daughter, Mary Katherine Childress; her brother, Johnny Tucker; her sisters, Grapel Wood, Marlene Childress, and Vivian Bridgeman.
