Juanita (Nita) Alicia Wilhite Peters (Age 78) was born on June 13, 1945, in Pensacola, Florida, and passed away on May 4, 2024, in Huntsville, Alabama.

Mrs. Peters graduated from Pensacola High School and met her future husband and love of her life, William (Bill) Lawrence Peters, on the steps of the Pensacola First Baptist church. A year later they were married on January 3, 1964, by his father Will Henry Peters, a Baptist minister. and Nita moved to Gainesville, Florida for a brief time while Bill completed his education before moving to Houston, Texas for 24 years and then to Harvest, Alabama. Mrs. Peters was baptized at the First Baptist Church in Pensacola and attended Baptist, Methodist, and Anglican churches.

Mrs. Peters’ interests were in family life, raising her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She worked in the Parent Teacher Organization at Dickinson Elementary School, was a Cub
Scout Den Mother and also a baseball coach. For a brief time, she ran her own day care center known as Kysselland for preschoolers in her home. She also worked in retail clothing and fur sales for a short time. In Houston she and her husband, Bill, owned and operated a retail gun store known as Clear Lake Guns for a number of years. She enjoyed traveling, camping, and riding her trail motorcycle on the trips. She loved her family dearly and included them in everything she did. Nita went on many NASA business trips with Bill around the United States and Europe enjoying the sights.

Nita is survived by her husband, William Lawrence Peters, her son William Douglas Peters and his sons Colin Douglas Peters and Damien Lawrence Peters and Damien’s daughter Judith. She is also survived by her daughter Deborah Yvonne Peters Conner and her daughter, Jessica Lynn Miller, and Jessica’s children Kaden and Kalia, and Deborah’s son James Colt Conner, and Colt’s children, James, and Molly. She is survived by her siblings, Robbie Lynn, Rodney Wilhite and is predeceased by her parents, Lilburn Lease Wilhite Jr., Margaret Grace Conner Wilhite, brother Lilburn Lease Wilhite III, and sister Lacy Jeanette Hamilton.
