Joye Loretta Burns  Joye Loretta Burns, beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother passed away peacefully with family gathered around, March 28, 2023. She was 86 years of age, born April 12, 1936 in Troy, Texas, the oldest daughter of Jesse James & Loretta Gabbert. Joye graduated from Hagerman High, Hagerman, New Mexico and later moved to back to Texas. There she met and married the love of her life, Vance Edward Burns, and they were happily married for 56 years, until his passing in 2018.

Joye is survived by daughters Trecia Jean Smith (Randy) (Guntersville, AL) and Monica Joye Bearden (Grant, AL), and sons Jerry Don Burns (Robin) (Panama City, FL) and James Clark Burns (Kathy) (Birmingham, AL). Joye adored and loved her four children, 13 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren, always making them the center of her attention and love.

Joye, like her name, was the joy of life, especially for those that knew and loved her. She did all she could to ensure her family and others in need were well cared for and happy. Hearts are broken but souls are rejoicing as she joins her loving husband and four brothers in her Heavenly Reward.

Visitation will be held at Carr Funeral Home, 1960 O’Brig Ave, Guntersville, AL on April 2, 2023, from 12:00 noon-2:00 PM. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM in the Carr “Chapel in the Pines” sanctuary. Immediately following, interment services will be performed at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, 17663 AL-227 Grove Oak, AL.

The family would like to offer a special “Thank you” for the caring staff of Bridgewood Gardens Assisted Living and Shepherd’s Cove Hospice for the exceptional care provided during these last several months—much appreciated.
