Joyce Sue Hopper Sissom age 78, passed away January 20, 2026, at her home.
She was born May 12, 1947, in Henderson, TN, the daughter of the late L.V. and Lois Ella Flatt Hopper. She attended Matthews, MO Elementary School. Joyce lived in MO but always made her way back to TN.
She married Charles ‘Butch’ Sissom. They made their home in MO. She worked in the food industry all her life until retirement.
She loved playing bingo and fishing. You could count on her biscuits being the best. She also loved gardening and Elvis.
Joyce is survived by two sons; William Barnett of MO and Junior Brown of Henderson and a daughter, Lois Lena Barnett Stack (David) of Henderson; nine grandchildren, Linda Joyce Termunlen (Evan), Kenny Haynes, Christian Barnett, Lena Barnett, Paula Barnett (Clarance), Charlie Ray Barnett (Nicole), Kathy Brown, Jennifer Brown, Harley Brown and twenty-four great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Charlie Ray Barnett (2004), two daughters, Joyce Ann Barnett (1963), and Joan Carol Barnett Dowdy (1996); two grandchildren, Tony Alford and Jonathan Dowdy; four brothers, Andy Hopper, William Hopper, James Hopper and Randy Hopper and two sisters, Doris Ann Heavener and Barbara Flanagan.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 27th at Shackelford Funeral Directors – East Main Chapel with Bro. Ken Frye officiating. Burial will follow at Lebanon Cemetery at Sardis, TN.
The family will receive friends from East Main, 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM service time on Tuesday.
