Joyce Marie Barksdale Cole, 78, passed away Monday, September 28, 2026, at Helen Keller Hospital. She was born in Vina, AL, to Riley Oneal and Ider Lindsey Barksdale. She was a member of Red Bay Holy Church of Christ. She also worked at the post office and State Farm for many years.
Funeral service will be Friday, October 2, 2026, at 1 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL with Bro. Wayne Bumgart and Bro. Roger Aldridge officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, October 1, 2026, from 5–8 p.m at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL. Burial will be in Halltown Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL will be in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by her son, Michael Cole (Kelly); five grandchildren, Katelyn Johnson (Tristan), Cody Wilkinson (Skyler), Matthew Cole, Derek Cole, and Brandon Cole (Bayleigh); a host of great-grandchildren; and one brother, David Barksdale.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Royce Cole; her parents; four brothers, Curt Barksdale, Bobby Barksdale, Joel Barksdale, and Lebern Barksdale; and one daughter, Melissa Cole.
Pallbearers will be Tristan Johnson, Cody Wilkinson, Matthew Cole, Brandon Cole, Wade Barksdale and Tony Barksdale.
