Joyce Corbin, our precious mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend was called to her Heavenly Home early in the morning on Tuesday, April 30, 2024.
Born in October of 1932, Joyce was the eldest of six children born of the late LeRoy “Bud” and Delores Hix. Though times were tough during the years in which she was reared, she was blessed to be raised in a loving home with siblings she has loved so dearly. Of the children, she is preceded in death by Earlene Spurlin and Judy Johnson. She now leaves behind three siblings, Barbara Corbin, Joan Kinney, and Johnny Hix.
After being courted by Lewis Corbin, the two wed in February of 1950 and built a life devoted to God and to family. Together they raised three boys, Frankie, Donald, and Neal, who are God fearing, sometimes stubborn and strong-willed, yet abundantly loving and compassionate men. Lewis and Joyce were devoted members of High Point Missionary Baptist Church. He served as a deacon, and she served as a Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher, choir member, and deacon’s wife. Though her husband of 59 years passed away in 2009, she has continued the legacy of leading her family in serving the Lord and in cherishing every moment spent together with family and friends. Through the years, the Lord has blessed the growth of this family to include her three daughters-in-law, Pam (Frankie), Gail (Donald), and Melissa (Neal), and her 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Joyce’s love for her Lord and Savior is reflected in the love she has poured into her church, family and friends.
Both the visitation and funeral service will be held at High Point Missionary Baptist Church on Friday, May 3, 2024. The family will gather from 11:00 a.m. to Noon at the church and will welcome friends from Noon to 2:00 p.m. The service will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Larry Camp and Bro. Greg Stone officiating the service, special prayer from Travis Wilemon.
Pallbearers include: Travis Wilemon, DJ Pritchett, Shaun Corbin, Nick Mitchell, Eric Corbin, and Andrew Veach.
Honorary Pallbearers include: Justin Corbin, Austin Corbin, Cody Corbin, Cory Corbin, Tyler Mitchell, Cameron Mitchell, Don Corbin, and Heath McCormick.
