Joyce Clem Moore, age 87, passed away peacefully Tuesday afternoon September 27, 2016 at Athens Rehabilitation and Senior Care. She was the oldest of three children, born to Walter and Eula Mae Clem. She was raised in the Thatch community in Limestone County. She was born November 30, 1928.
On September 15, 1946, she married Malcolm Moore. They were happily married for over 50 years.
Joyce owned and operated Kids World in downtown Athens for 35 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church for over 60 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Malcolm; her parents; brother, Jerome Clem; daughter-in-law, Betty Gilbert Moore.
Joyce was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her daughter, Connie (Jerry) Elmore; son, Rickey Moore; daughter, Deborah Moore; brother and sister-in-law, Cecil and Helen Clem; grandchildren, Jackie (Mitchell) Crumpton, Chris (Cassandra) Elmore, Jeremy (Ashley) Moore, Jenni (Jeff) Shackelford and Gil (Kelli) Moore; twelve great-grandchildren; eight nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends between 11:00 and 12:45 Friday morning and the funeral will be held at 1:00 following the visitation at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home in Athens, with burial following in Athens City Cemetery. Edwin F. Jenkins will officiate, and Jerry Elmore will deliver the eulogy.
Pallbearers will be Chris Elmore, Jeremy Moore, Gil Moore, Mitchell Crumpton, Jeff Shackelford and Wade Clem.
The family would like to give a special thanks to all the nurses and administration at Athens Rehabilitation and Senior Care for their kindness during her illness.
