Joyce “Bum Bum” Virginia Sharp

  Joyce “Bum Bum” Virginia Sharp, of Huntsville passed away Friday, January 10.

Joyce passed away surrounded by her whole family and caregivers. She was truly one of a kind, with all the love and compassion she shared. Joyce worked in the old Fifth Avenue Fruit Stand beside her husband James for many years. Along with raising her own children, she also helped and fed many of the kids of Madison Heights and surrounding neighborhoods.

Ms. Sharp is survived by her children, Keith (Valerie), Dean (Renee), and Tammy (Brenda); grandchildren,  Ryan, Nikki, Abby, Robbie, Matt, and Mindi; great grandchildren, Jackson, Devin, Reed, Lola, and Pierce; god child, Vanessa Zerpa (Carlos); spirit sister, Mollie Shelton, and sons, Mike and Pete.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James Sharp; loving companion, James EE Elledge; mother, Ethel Pulliam; father, Clarence Shelton; brother, OJ (Pete Shelton); and sister, Inez Reed.

There will be a a visitation Saturday, January 18 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.. A memorial service will be followed directly afterwards at Berryhill Funeral Home with Reverend Eddie Johnson officiating, and Tammy Sharp speaking.

The family would like to especially thank Ms. Sharp’s caregivers and North Alabama Hospice for the excellent care they gave her.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Judes Hospital for Children.
