Joyce Buchanan Hanvey, 84, of Huntsville, AL passed away December 23, 2019. She spent many years as a Bookkeeper for Textile Hardwood Manufacturing Company. After retiring she decided to do what she loved and became the first biscuit maker for McDonald’s in Huntsville. She spent the last 15 years taking Handi-Ride five (5) times a week to the Huntsville-Madison County Senior Center where enjoyed exercising and spending time with her many friends and often volunteered to bake cakes and pastries for the coffee shop among other things.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Emma and Claude Buchanan. She is survived by her eight (8) children: Kay Pitsis (George), Jane McBroom, Nancy Hanvey, Mike Hanvey, Lisa Jones (Grandon), Steve Hanvey, Beverly Hanvey (Kelly), Dawn Hanvey, brother Gary Buchanan (Diane) of Steele Missouri, grandchildren: Blake Hanvey, Travis McBroom (Chara), Ashley Sumner (Aaron), Michelle Jones, Lance Hanvey, Brooke Hanvey, Ryan Perkins, Megan Perkins, Austin Hanvey, Audrey Hanvey, Meg McGreevy, seven (7) great-children, her beloved dogs Lila Blue and Charlie Brown.
Visitation will be held Saturday, December 28, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. with funeral service at 12:00 p.m. at Laughlin Funeral Home. A private burial will follow in Colbert County.
Memorial donations may be made to the Huntsville-Madison County Senior Center and Hospice Family Care.
