Funeral services for Joy Mitchell, age 75 of Delta, will be held on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Good Hope Delta Baptist Church with Rev. Ronnie Adams, Rev. Wayne Adams and Rev. David Porter officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
Mrs. Mitchell passed away on Monday, November 12, 2018 at the Clay County Hospital. A native and life-long resident of Clay County, she had worked as a seamstress at Higgins Manufacturing and enjoyed sewing and making clothes for her family. At the age of 50 Mrs. Mitchell graduated from Ayers Technical College with a degree in Computer Science. She was a member of Good Hope Delta Baptist Church.
Mrs. Mitchell is survived one son, Randy Alvis Mitchell (Regina); one sister, Waynette Smith, both of Delta; one granddaughter, Anna Lee Mitchell Cleapor (Donnie); one grandson, Daniel Alvis Mitchell and 5 great-grandchildren: Allie Joy Bryant, Jacie Danielle Mitchell, Donnie Cleapor, Will Cleapor and Maddie Cleapor.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Thomas Edward Graben and Evelyn Pauline Yates Graben and her husband, Alvis C. Mitchell.
Pallbearers will be Donnie Cleapor, Paul Haynie, Kelly Adams, Jeff Smith, Tony Graben and Andy Graben.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville. Mrs. Mitchell will lie in state for one hour prior to service on Thursday at the church.
