josephineJosephine Marie Canerday, 87, of Florence, AL, passed away November 6, 2015. Mrs. Canerday was a life-long resident of Lauderdale County and a member of Lone Cedar Church of Christ.

Mrs. Canerday was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Reba Cabler Robertson, and her husband, the love of her life- Rudolph Canerday, and sisters, Louise Stutts and Opal Medley. Survivors include her son Norman Canerday (Shelia), and daughter, Wanda Nix (Donnie), sisters Ruby Hamner (Troy) and Alma Butler; and brother-in-law’s Horace Stutts and Reed Canerday. Her grandchildren include Donica Nix, April Clark (Brent), Misty Crabb (Steve), and Wesley Canerday (Missy). Further survivors include eight great-grandchildren- Courtney, Maggie, Jacob, Will, Kelby, Bentley, Barrett, and Wheeler, one great-great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.

For years, she and Rudolph doted on each other and shared a love for the mountains and a love for God that they instilled in their children. Mrs. Canerday was a devoted wife and a loving mother. Following the death of her husband, Mrs. Canerday joined the work force at the age of 52 years at Rogers Department Store. She had a great love of animals, especially her dog, Bear; flowers, and the color purple.

Visitation will be Sunday, November 8, 2015 from 12:30-2:00 at Lone Cedar Church of Christ. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 P.M. with Bro. Tim Grigsby officiating. Burial will be in Lone Cedar Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Wesley Canerday, Brent Clark, Jacob Clark, Wayne Reeves, Jackie Canerday, and Will Crabb. Honorary pallbearer will be Doyce Couch.
