Funeral service for Josephine H. Nuby, 96, will be Friday, September 26, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Michael Gunter officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Cedar Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, September 25, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home.
Mrs. Nuby died on Monday, September 22, 2025 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. She was born July 30, 1929, in Morgan County, to George Gilbert Hudgins and Dora Minnie Moore Hudgins.
She was a loving mother and grandmother, who attended Somerville Church of God, loved to quilt, and owned and operated Nuby’s “Gulf” Grocery. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, going to the Eva Senior Center and quilting with her sister. She was employed by Goodyear for 27 years, prior to her retirement.
Preceding her in death were her husband- Garland Nuby, her parents- Gilbert and Dora Hudgins, three brothers- Edward Hudgins, Horrace Hudgins, J.L. Hudgins, and three sisters – Irene McKee, Christine Kinney, and Peggy McKee.
Survivors include:
Daughter – Charlotte Steele,
Two Grandchildren – Nathan Steele and Thomas Steele
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
