Joseph William Copeland was born on May 7, 1938 to Luther and Nancy (Cone) Copeland in Jasper, Alabama. He passed away at the age of 84 on March 13, 2023 at his residence in Hanceville, Alabama.

 

Mr. Copeland was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Louise; and daughter, Anita.

 

Survivors include his daughter, Selia Gamble; son, Andrew (Jennifer) Copeland; grandchildren, Brandon (Kristy) Gamble and Matthew Gamble; great grandchildren, Patrick Gamble, Aden Gamble and Selena Smith; sister, Rose Reed; and a host nieces, nephews, their children and grandchildren.

 

Joseph graduated Cold Springs High School in Cullman County in 1958. He then moved to Birmingham to pursue a career in printing and later retiring at the level of Master Pressman. In August of 1958 he married the love of his life. They enjoyed building their lives together for 61 years until Louise passed away in 2019. They lived in Birmingham and raised their family until they moved to Hanceville in 1974. Quickly after moving, they found a home church of Hanceville First Baptist where he served as a deacon; which he loved dearly.

 

Funeral services were held on March 17, 2023 at Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Sawyer and Andrew Copeland officiating. A committal service was then held at Fairview West Cemetery in Hanceville with Rev. Philip Wigley officiating.
