Joseph Ward, beloved husband, father, and cherished member of the community, passed away on November 6th, 2023, at the West Tennessee Veterans Home in Humboldt, TN.
He was born on November 10th, 1942, in his hometown of Jackson, Tennessee, the son of the late Casey Glenn and Minnie Lee Boone Ward.
Joe was a remarkable individual who had a distinguished career and made a significant impact on those around him. He embarked on his professional journey after graduating from Jackson High School in 1960. Joe’s career path led him through various positions that allowed him to explore different fields.
Joe proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force for four years from 1960 through 1964. His dedication and commitment to serving others exemplified his selfless character.
He began his career with Eli Lilly as a salesman, selling cigars with enthusiasm and building valuable connections along the way. Later, Joe transitioned to J.C. Penny, where he devoted over two decades of dedicated service. Throughout his time at J.C. Penny, Joe held several positions and eventually climbed the ladder to become a store manager. His dedication and commitment to excellence were evident in everything he did.
After retiring from J.C. Penny, Joe embarked on a new venture as one of the co-founders and owners of the local franchise for Re-Max Realty. His passion for real estate led him to serve as the President of the Jackson Realtor Association in both 1996 and 1998. Joe’s knowledge and expertise in the field made him an esteemed figure within the community.
Beyond his professional achievements, Joe had an abiding love for cars. He was known for regularly purchasing new vehicles and reveling in the joy of that distinctive “new car smell.” His love for automobiles brought him great pleasure throughout his life.
Above all else, Joseph Ward treasured his family more than anything in this world. His proudest accomplishments revolved around being a devoted husband to Brenda Ward and a loving father to his sons Glenn Ward and wife Michelle and Brent Ward and his wife Penny. The strong bond he shared with each of them shaped his life with love and gratitude.
In addition to his wife and sons, Joe leaves behind a legacy in the form of his adored grandchildren: Nick Ward and wife Kaci, Casey Ward, and Ireland Ward. They brought immeasurable joy to his life and will forever cherish the memories they created together.
A memorial gathering and service to honor and celebrate the remarkable life of Joe will take place on November 9, 2023, beginning at 12:00 p.m., followed by the memorial service at 2:00 p.m. at Arrington Funeral Directors with Rev. Gerry Campbell officiating.
Joe Ward will be remembered as a man who strived for excellence in every aspect of his life. His warm smile, kind heart, and unwavering love for his family touched the lives of many. He leaves behind a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
