Joseph W “Joe” Redden, age 73, of Fort Payne, passed away February 20, 2025. Mr. Redden was born in Dekalb County on October 1, 1951 to the late Robert Redden and Mary Ramsey Hairel. He was employed as a fixer in the hosiery mill industry, a long-time member of the Adamsburg Volunteer Fire Department, and a member of Delmar Missionary Baptist Church in Fort Payne.
Funeral services will be 2:00pm Sunday, February 23rd, at the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roger Redden officiating. Burial will follow in the Adamsburg Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 4:00 until 8:00pm at the funeral home.
Mr. Redden is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jimmie Sue Evett Redden; children, Wayne Redden, Rickey Chaney, Rebecca Jackson (Jamie), and Roger Redden (Sherry); brothers, Ronnie Hairel (Tina) and Lonnie Hairel (Tammy); sisters, Mary Ruth Busby and Emily Cooper (Eddie); grandchildren, Renee Steele, Christopher Redden (Katie), Ryan Hudman, Taylor Thomas (Derek), Jonathan Redden (Ali), Khaylie Burnley (Seth), Tabitha Cordell, Abby, Libby, and Lacey Redden, Wyatt and Ella Jackson, and Vanna Redden; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Jack Hairel, daughter, Lisa Jane Steele; brothers, Bob Redden, Don Hairel, and Ray Hairel; and sisters, Kay Hairel and Bertha Bolt.
