Joseph Robert “Joe Bob” Basham

Mr. Joseph Robert “Joe Bob” Basham age 89 of Viola, TN, died Saturday, September 11, 2021.  He was born November 09, 1931, in Viola, TN, was a farmer and nurseryman, and a member of the church of Christ. Joe Bob had served as a vice president of the Warren County A & L Fair Board in charge of entertainment for years, a board member of West Warren Water District, a member of the Viola Fire Department, as a Deputy Sherriff, and appraiser for the Tax Assessor’s office, worked for Ford Motor Co. in Chicago for a few years, was one of the creators of the “On the Road Show”, and was a member of a high school band with Dottie West and Joe Kuhn.

 

Mr. Basham is survived by his wife of 69 years Dorothy Jean Haston Basham, sons Jerry Basham (Brenda Smith), Jimmy (Jennifer) Basham, Rickey Basham (Jennie Sydenstricker), and Steve Basham, brother Benton Basham, grandchildren Stacey (Steven) Elam, Montgomery (Niki) Basham, Will (Breanna) Basham, Christopher Basham, and Anisa Basham, and great grandchildren Ava Elam, Maverick Basham, and Avery Kate Basham, special friend James Taylor III, and long-time close friend Joe Kuhn. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert Lee and Stacy May Thaxton Basham, sister Annie Jane Basham, and brothers Frank Basham and Raymond Basham

 

Graveside service and interment is scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Saturday, September 18, 2021, at Mt. Zion Cemetery. Tommy Thaxton will officiate. The Basham family will receive friends on Friday from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and again Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until 12:30 P.M. at McMinnville Funeral Home.
