Joseph Ray Knott – Obituary

Joseph Ray Knott, age 89, of Jasper, AL passed away peacefully December 28, 2018. He is preceded in death by his parents, Claude Allen and Mattie Bell Knott and his son Joseph Earl Knott. Joseph is survived by his wife of 70 years, Peggy Sue Knott; daughter, Dianne K. Rasco (Kenneth) and his grandson Shafer Rasco. He was raised in Empire, AL in the mining camp. He began his career in the dairy industry at White Dairy. Joseph later took a position with Barber Ice Cream from which he retired after 44 years of service as the Vice President and General Manager. Upon retirement from the dairy industry Joseph began selling cars at several dealerships in Jasper, AL. He had a great passion for bass fishing, especially on Smith Lake. Joseph designed Fleck Worm jigs and spinnerbait. His Weed Wader Spinnerbait was a great success and won fishing tournaments in Guntersville, AL for 2 consecutive years in a row. Joseph was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a good provider and loved his family deeply. He was deeply respected and will be missed by all who knew him. Services will be held January 2, 2018 at New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home in Dora, AL. Visitation from 1:00-2:00 pm.
