Joseph R. “J.R.” Harbin, 84, died Monday, July 21, 2014, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born May 12, 1930, to Verlon and Velma Woodham Harbin. He was a truckdriver and a Baptist in belief. He enjoyed fishing and camping.
Services will be at 11:00 a. m. Friday at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Mantachie with Bro. Dempsey Rowland and Bro. Eddie Boutwell officiating. Burial will be in the Center Star Cemetery.
Survivors include two sons, Roger D. Harbin (Cheryl) of Mantachie and Eddie Harbin (June) of Amory; one brother, Edker “Doc” Harbin of Skyline; one sister, Helen Fay Grubbs of Mantachie; twelve grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and other family members.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Harbin; one son, Wayne Harbin; one daughter, Jeannie Parker; seven brothers, Elvin, Wilburn, Arlon, Rayburn “ Bill”, Carlous, Stanley, and Jerry Harbin;and his parents.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5:00 -8:00 Thursday night at McNeece – Morris Funeral Home in Mantachie.
