Joseph “Joe” Douglas Black, 61 of Athens, passed away on Saturday, March 4th, 2023, at Athens Limestone Hospital. Mr. Black was born on February 4th, 1962, in Athens, to Francis and Ruth Compton Black.
Mr. Black is survived by his daughter Jo Beth Smith (Jonathan); granddaughter Kyndal Smith; sisters Becky Slaton (Mike) and Cindy Gregory (Mark); brothers Charles Black (Rita) and David Black (Lori); and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and brother Donald Black.
A graveside service for Mr. Black will be Wednesday, March 8th, 2023, at 1:00pm at Antioch Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 7th, from 5:00-8:00pm at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home.
Joe loved fishing and hunting, but he especially loved a good joke! He will be truly missed.
