Obituary of Joseph James Moore Joseph James Moore (JJ), 41, of Decatur, Alabama, passed away peacefully at his home on April 25, 2024. Joseph was born on November 6, 1982, at Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota. His father, Bruce Moore, and paternal grandparents, Barbara and Joseph Moore, preceded him in death. He is survived by his mother, Karen Smith, sister Sidney Watson (Cody), grandparents James and Shirley Sivley, along with many other aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Many will remember him for his big heart and the intense love he had for his family. He was always quick to tell them how much he cared for them. He greatly enjoyed family trips to the beach. Although the trips did not happen often, it made them that much more sentimental. Growing up, JJ loved art and drawing. He also enjoyed listening to music and always dreamed of one day visiting South Dakota.

The family greatly appreciates the outpouring of love and prayers they have received during this time. A service will not be conducted.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation in his name to a mental health or recovery/prevention organization of your choice, such as the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), or the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).

If you or someone you love is struggling with substance abuse, text or call the Crisis Hotline at 988. Recovery is possible.

Roselawn Funeral Home has the honor of serving the family.
