Joseph Bernard Gomez III passed away on March 12, 2024. He was 42 years young. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Jose Bernardo Gomez Sr.; grandmother, Angelica Gomez; and maternal grandfather, John Mauldin Paget Sr.
Survivors include his father, Jose Bernardo Gomez Jr. (Dr. Marilyn Salada and son, Noble); mother, Pamela Paget-Wakefield; sisters, Rachel Gomez Thomas and Angela Sorensen (Ryhlee and Lincoln); and his son, Grayson Gomez. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins, who loved him very much.
Bernie, as he was called by his family, LB or Joseph, called by others, was born March 4, 1982, in Columbia, South Carolina. He spent his younger years in the state of Oregon and the remainder of his years in Alabama, where he forged many long-term friendships.
Bernie was a bright, sensitive, and loving spirit. He was gifted in music and loved playing his guitar. He was generous and fiercely loyal to his friends and will be sorely missed.
The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 18, 2024, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
