Obituary of Jonia May Owens Jonia May Owens, 94, of Corinth, Mississippi went to rest in her eternal home on February 10, 2025 at her residence surrounded by her family and friends. She was born January 10, 1943 in Ripley, Mississippi. At eighteen months old she would lose her biological parents to a car accident and she was adopted by Henry and Mattie Parnell Lacy.

Jonia worked at Magnolia Regional Health Center, Century Electric, Halls of Mississippi, Garin, and Mitchell Manufacturing. She would marry James “Olen” Harvell and bore two children. Jonia enjoyed reading, watching soap operas, and Wheel of Fortune, word search puzzles, and cooking. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. She loved family gatherings and having everyone together to eat. Her favorite meal was “catfish” and really enjoyed when it came from her son’s pond. Jonia enjoyed gardening and will forever be know for her “green thumb”. To know Jonia, was to love her. She will be dearly missed. The family would like to thank the staff and residents of Dogwood Assisted Living in Corinth for all the love and care they showed her for many years before spending her final years in Texas. The family would also like to thank the staff of Accent Care Hospice in Waco for their care and compassion.

Jonia was welcomed home by her parents; son, Jimmy; husbands, Olen Harvell, Carl Austin, and Harold Owens.

Those she leaves behind include her daughter, Linda House; granddaughters, Tiffany Franks, Shalaine Deal (Doug) all from Waco,Texas; grandsons, Jimmy E. Harvell (Shana), Shane Harvell (Trystal), of Corinth,Mississippi; sister-in-law, Erlene Harvell; 11 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren as well as a host of extended family and friends.

There is a Celebration of Life Service scheduled for Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at McPeters Funeral Directors Chapel beginning at three o’clock in the afternoon with Bro. Warren Jones officiating. The family will accept friends beginning at noon until service time. There will be private committal service following at Henry Cemetery. The family has entrusted the care for the arrangements with the staff of McPeters Funeral Directors.

In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital, one of her favorite organizations.
