Jonathan Coulter Trundle, age 46 of Murfreesboro died Friday June 26, 2026. He was a native of Chattanooga TN and was a Professor of Photography at Middle Tennessee State University.
Mr. Trundle earned his bachelor’s degree in mass communications at Middle Tennessee State University in 2001 before receiving his Master of Fine Arts in photography and digital imaging in 2006 from the Maryland Institute College of Art.
Mr. Trundle’s personal photography work has been displayed in galleries in Baltimore, Maryland; Washington, D.C; and New Jersey. While his work mainly focused on slit shutter and slit scan cameras, using various types of camera formats to explore the element of linear time within an image, he was equally proficient in numerous types of photographic mediums.
Jonathan was an avid collector of cameras, slide projectors, darkroom equipment, Legos, coffee mugs, vintage dishes, and Schwinn bicycles. He never missed a chance to slip a pun into the conversation. Kindness was a hallmark of his character, and he was known for giving the best hugs.
He will be sorely missed by his wife Liberty Trundle and son Arlo Trundle; his parents, Hall and Peggy Trundle; brothers, Christopher Trundle and wife Vanessa, Tony Trundle and partner Cher.
