Jon Mark Wert
Jon Mark was a man of many aspirations and fortitude. During the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, he could be seen helping those in need and clearing pathways for people trapped in their homes. Not only did he attend SAS, he assumed duties at the university as an environmental intern, security, and most recently as a domain manager. His time with SAS fulfilled his desires as a traveler, giving him the opportunity to explore the beaches of Baja and hike the Appalachian trail. It also allowed him to embrace his hobbies, such as mountain biking, outdoor exploration, and climbing. One of his many accomplishments was one of the highest honors. He became an Eagle Scout for Troop-14 and was always supportive of his fellow scouts. In 2022, Jon Mark left SAS inspired to attend Appalachian State University to major in fermentation science. A fascination with the process and creation he had long since admired. His dream was to one day create his own line of whiskey and hot sauce companies and was always eager to share his creations with others. An aspiration he could have undoubtedly achieved. A dream that will live on in the memory of his beloved friends and family.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to Easy’s Dog Shelter in Tracy City or any cancer research facility of your choosing. A cause he believed in and an establishment close to his heart.

Graveside service for Jon will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at 12:00pm at University Cemetery with a memorial gathering following at Lake Cheston Pavillion in Sewanee.
