Elizabeth Jolene Perry was born on August 10, 1943, to Edgar and Jewel Key. She peacefully passed to her heavenly home on June 8, 2024. Jolene spent most of her life in Rienzi, MS, after being born in Prentiss County. She led a long, fulfilling, and healthy life until a few months ago when she began her courageous battle with liver cancer. Throughout her struggle, she remained steadfast in her faith and was prepared to join her Lord.

Those who knew Jolene were well aware of her profound love for both the Lord and her family. A faithful member of Rienzi Baptist Church, she was always eager to share her faith. She treasured her relationship with Christ and trusted in His plan for her life. Jolene deeply missed her beloved Perk, with whom she shared 52 blessed years, and she cherished her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Being the eighth of twelve children, she held a special place in her heart for her siblings and valued the time they spent together.

Jolene graduated high school from Rienzi High School in 1960. She spent many years employed at Garan, and then dedicated over 40 years to managing Perry’s Super Carpet Store alongside Perk and her son, Keith. In her leisure time, she enjoyed tending to her garden and yard. She loved hosting guests in her home, always welcoming visitors with a hug and an offer of hospitality. She especially enjoyed the many years she spent cheering on her sons and grandchildren at their sporting events. Jolene had a deep affection for her family, neighbors, and friends, and she cherished staying connected with everyone’s lives. In her final healthy days, she found great joy in her morning walks with friends, participating in ladies’ group meetings at RBC, and caring for her great-grandson, Nolan.

Jolene is survived by her children: sons Ken (Tammy) Nash and Keith (Christy) Nash; step-son Ricky (Cheryl) Perry; stepdaughter Pam (Robert) Bryant; brother Ralph Key; sister Pat (Terry) Henderson; nine grandchildren, Jason (Tiffany) Lacy, Dustin (Sandra) Lacy, Andrew Perry, Kari Beth (Warren) Jumper, Kimberly (Jesse) Woodard, Anna Bellinger, Peyton (Autumn) Nash, Grace (Jeremy) Pannell, and Noah Nash; thirteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter “Perk” Perry; her parents, Edgar and Jewel Key; and her siblings, brothers, Edgar Hershell Key, Will Key and Max Key, and sisters Helen Green, Lorene Lambert, Shirley Barrett, Ann English, Janice Whitehorn, and Sheila Key.

In remembrance of Jolene, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to the Rienzi Baptist Church children’s and youth ministries or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
