Johnny Ray Thornton, age 63 of Russellville, AL. passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital.
Service will be Friday, December 9, 2016 Noon until 2 PM at Akins Funeral Home Russellville, AL. with Bro. Jim Lumpkin officiating. Mr. Thornton will lie in state from 10-11 AM at New Oak Grove Freewill Baptist Church, Nauvoo, Alabama prior to the Funeral Service on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at 11 AM in the Chapel of New Oak Grove Freewill Baptist Church with Bro. Jimmy Black officiating. Burial will be in New Oak Grove Cemetery.
He is preceded in death by his parents Luther and Addie Lou Thornton, four sisters and three brothers.
Johnny is survived by his wife Kelly Thornton, Sister Brenda Gail Thornton, Father and Mother in law Dennis and Debbie Smith, and a host of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family request monetary donations for the funeral expenses.
Akins Funeral Home will be assisting the family.
