Johnny Maples passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, July 28th, 2026, and was welcomed straight into the arms of his savior, Jesus Christ. Johnny was an extraordinary man who loved God, his family, friends and Alabama football. He touched many hearts in his 78 years here on this earth. He lived a wonderful life that was full of love. His faith stood tall above all, and he built a steady foundation for his family to stand on. While we mourn the loss of an exceptional man, we find comfort in knowing that his earthly body is no longer suffering, and lean on the fact that he is at peace and rejoicing with the angels.
He was preceded in death by son, John Clifford Maples; father, Noah Maples; mother, Viola Maples; brother, Robert Maples; and sister, Shirley Atchley.
Surviving are wife, Beverly Kay Maples; daughters, Mindy Nix and LaShonda (Mark) Stoneburner; granddaughters, Kristyna Dudley, Amber Dudley (Zach Ranta), Alex Maples (Brandon Doran); grandson, John Andrew Maples; great grandsons, Kaleb Austyn Dudley and Kaden Doran; great granddaughter, Emersyn Doran; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and bonus sons and daughters.
