Funeral Services for Mr. Johnny “Joey” Green Jr, age 69 of Alexander City, will be held on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Wayne Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Green passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Grandview Medical Center. A lifelong resident of Alexander city, Mr. Green worked most of his life between Russell Mills and Southland for around 30 years as a technician and mechanic. Outside of work, he enjoyed fishing, collecting old cars, and he was an avid Auburn football fan. He was an AA Counselor and a member of New Beginnings in Alexander City. Mr. Green was a loving Father and Grandfather.
Mr. Green is survived by two daughters: Mathilde Wycoff of Alexander City and Charity Haggerty (Michael) of Goodwater; 6 grandchildren: Matthew Green, Diamond Green, Whitney Wycoff, LaBre Shealey, Abby Haggerty and Bryan Haggerty; two sisters: Tena Jett (Jerry “Scoot” and Carolyn Patterson, both of Bluff Springs, plus several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Johnny Joseph Green Sr. and Susie Johnson Green; and two brothers: John W. and Charles Green.
Active Pallbearers will be Tim Gates, James Shealey, Sidney Shealey, Jeffery Calhoun, John Dark, Darice McElrath, and Tristan Guffey.
His visitation will take place on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland from 5:00P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and until service time at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday.
